Reading to dogs can boost reading skills and self-confidence in children as well as help with emotional and social skills. Many children are self-conscious and hesitant when reading out loud, but when they read stories to a dog they are less stressed and actually find in enjoyable. Joan O'Neill, a volunteer with Therapy Dogs International along with Lucy, her canine reading partner, are available for 15 minute reading sessions in the Children's Room. Lucy is a good listener! So bring along your favorite book and share a story with a furry friend. Registration is required.
